PPF Aftercare 101 – How to Keep Your Paint Protection Film Looking Fresh
Share
Just got your ride protected with PPF? Smart move. But now it’s all about the aftercare. Whether you’ve had a full-front wrap or complete coverage, here’s how to make it last and keep it looking like day one:
🚫 Don’t Wash It Too Soon
Give it at least 7 days before you take your car through a wash. The adhesive needs time to fully cure. Jump the gun and you risk lifting edges or trapping moisture.
🧼 Skip the Harsh Chemicals
Use pH-balanced car shampoos only. No degreasers, abrasives, or heavy-duty cleaners. The goal is gentle, not gritty.
🪷 No Waxing Needed (But If You Must…)
You don’t need to wax your PPF, but if you do, avoid any products that contain naphtha or kerosene. Stick to synthetic sprays or coatings made for PPF films.
🧽 Wash With Microfiber Only
Old-school sponges and brushes = tiny scratches. Always use a soft microfiber wash mitt and a two-bucket method (one for soap, one for rinse) to avoid swirl marks.
🌞 Avoid Parking in Direct Sunlight Right After Installation
Fresh PPF is sensitive to heat while it’s still settling. If possible, park in shade or indoors for the first week post-installation.
🧊 Spot a Bubble or Haze? Don’t Stress.
Some haziness or small air bubbles are normal and usually disappear in 1–3 weeks. If anything worsens or looks odd after that, reach out to your installer.
🛡️ Bonus Tip: Ceramic Coat Your PPF
Want to really lock in that gloss? A ceramic coating over your PPF boosts protection and makes washing even easier. Just make sure it’s one compatible with PPF films.
